Hello Fruit Club!
We have an exciting event coming up on July 16th! The Bainbridge Island Fruit Club is joining with Friends of the Farms to help rehab some badly in need of pruning fruit trees. This is a great learning opportunity to gain hands-on pruning skills on older fruit trees!
- The event is Saturday July 16th from 10am to 1pm at Johnson Farm(directions are below).
- Darren Murphy will be there…as well as other fruit club members to supervise the pruning
- Bring: gloves, pruning shears if you can. If you have an orchard ladder to share it would be greatly appreciated!
This is our first event like this of hopefully many more. On the 16th we will focus on the 4 or 5 trees next to the pea patch and if time permits prune some obviously dead limbs on surrounding trees. Friends of the Farms members will also be present to learn, assist and add some camaraderie!
This is truly timely event for summer pruning and rehabbing older trees. We will be able to watch the trees flourish in the coming years with a little TLC given by the club.
I look forward to seeing you there!
